Papyrus acted quickly, placing Sans under his direct supervision and making it clear that he was the only one allowed to mess with his brother. As he climbed the ranks he used his influence to show that betrayal and pain were not the only ways to get what one wanted. Papyrus did his best to be fair, delivering quick merciful deaths to those who deserved it and prolonged painful ones for those who deserved to suffer. He was forced to kill as he began to climb the ranks, and learned to distance himself from those acts. He wanted that for himself, and began to train to become part of the Royal Guard. In Snowdin he became aware of the amount of influence Undyne, as the head of the royal guard, held over large parts of the Underground, and the power the Canine Unit held over Snowdin. Sadly his optimistic nature meant that others would try to take advantage of him, and after a particular incident that resulted in his brother being hurt, Papyrus chose to focus his energy on only his family, at least until he was in a position to start helping others more. He was resourceful, and quick to pick up battle magic. He was an extremely optimistic and driven kid, seeing the potential for more in a world that seemed to bring out the worst in those around him.
